On a version of Windows that is up to date with respect to root
certificates, you should be able to export them from IE. I think most
Linux distributions will have a root certificates package.
The most likely reason for getting this on a mainstream site is that you
don't have an up to date set of the currently widely trusted root
certificates. On a minor site, it might be because they are trying to
do SSL on the cheap. However, it could be because you are subject to a
man in the middle attack, so if you get this error, you should assume
that everything you send to that site is being intercepted and
decrypted, unless you have independent reasons for being sure that is
not the case.
