ARIA is a workaround to allow web sites that are fundamentally presentational in their use of HTML, to restore the real HTML semantics. I would suggest that, if Lynx were to take on ARIA, it would really need to take on the whole and use the ARIA semantics for every element with ARIA mark-up, ignoring the HTML semantics, as far as possible.
