That just doesn't fit in well. Neither-code-wise, nor functionality-
wise IMO.
When I use a 'C-x <something>' combination in a shell with emacs
bindings, I don't get a special prompt either. It would just be
distracting. Consider 'C-x <something>' as one (extended) key...
(and actually it just one keypress for me, with ESC in place of C-x
and Alt+<something> sending 'ESC <something>').
