lynx-dev Can't open output file!

I am running lynx 2.8.2 (precompilied) on a win95 platform.
When I press d to download a file I get on error "Can't open output 
file! Canceling. When I press o for  options I get can't open temp 
file. I have looked through documentation but cant find info on 
setting a temp variable. What am I doing wrong or not seeing.
