first of all, that's a very old version today (c Feb 1997):
get the latest release 2-8-2 from www.slcc.edu/lynx/release/
or the development version from sol.slcc.edu/lynx/current/ ;
in real life, none of the volunteers supports older versions.

yes, lbo is down sometimes: give it a local startfile,
eg simply lynx . (that's a dot), which calls up your current directory.

if you can't start with a local file or still can't use `g',
