yes.  that's the same problem.  it's not the only problem I've had with
the gettext configuration (basically the non-GNU configure checks in the
distributed package "almost" work - just off enough to convince the
average person to use GNU gettext.  Makes it hard to do a fair side-by-side
comparison.
