Lynx gravely violates FC 1738 here, particularly by always passing a path that begins with a '/' (except for a detected VMS server). '/' is illegal in path names for some servers (MVS, CMS) and an ordinary character for Mac/OS (although most Mac FTP servers try to spoof Unix in this respect).
