i have been using xv to view images with Lynx as defined in .mailcap . today, i tried kview instead, which is a KDE application & a bit better.
occasionally in the past, Lynx has collapsed with a segfault message when trying to activate xv to present an image; as it wasn't reproducible, i picked up the bits & ignored it. however, while kview seems generally to work very well with Lynx, i have had a couple of cases of images causing segfaults & one -- today's Doonesbury cartoon in the Yahoo Reuter news site: http://dailynews.yahoo.com/h/cx/uc/20010101/db/db020101l.html?u -- , which has repeated, 1st time with a segfault, 2nd with this message: sh: -c: line 1: syntax error near unexpected token `&)' sh: -c: line 1: `kview /tmp/EdHJ8b/L1254-242TMP.gif &)' A Fatal error has occurred in Lynx Ver. 2.8.4dev.19 -- etc -- my mailcap entry is image/gif; kview %s & and Lynx seems to be adding a `)' to the end of the line. earlier, with 2 jpg files there were segfault messages, but the problem was not reproducible, as a revived Lynx showed the images using kview without a problem. outside Lynx, kview shows the downloaded Doonesbury image successfully. Netscape also presents it without a problem. OS is Mandrake Linux. i can e-mail the image file to lynx-dev, if attachments are acceptable. -- ========================,,============================================ SUPPORT ___________//___, Philip Webb : [EMAIL PROTECTED] ELECTRIC /] [] [] [] [] []| Centre for Urban & Community Studies TRANSIT `-O----------O---' University of Toronto ; To UNSUBSCRIBE: Send "unsubscribe lynx-dev" to [EMAIL PROTECTED]
