It may work to run Lynx's -source output through `nkf -Se`.
You can do this with a Lynx-specific proxy (shell script).

(I no longer have the time to follow-up on Lynx problems, but
you might also check into a way to have Lynx ignore the character
set meta tag in CJK mode.  I think someone did it with a toggle.

It's not just google.  A number of Japanese language data base
queries fail in this manner.
