'(' gets inserted, is seen on-screen, AND is printed. The happens when
one chooses the environment 'Parenthetical'. The only problem I can see
is that LyX (LaTeX) does not display the inserted ')' on-screen (the
printed document is correct). The only problem is that the user might
think 'Oh, this is a parenththetical expression, and therefore I must
start and end it with ()'. But if they start by typing a '(' they will
immediately see '((' on-screen and realize that they do not have to do
that. The only confusion that arises is in ending the parenthetical. The
closing ')' does not show on-screen, but does correctly appear in the
printed doc. I have taken one of Amir's several suggestions and changed
the colour of the entire (parenthetical) to blue. This alerts the user
to the fact that something unusual is happening. If they still insert
the closing ')', they will see the error as soon as they print and not
make that mistake again. I see no need to change the current behaviour
unless some genius can come up with a way to make LyX show the closing
')'.
