This paper size is widely used in publishing inexpensive paperbacks in N. America. It is supported by gv and several other packages I have. I have a patch for LyX, but I also had to add support in book.cls and geometry.sty and the config file that Jurgen sent me. It works great for me. If anyone else is interested I can submit patches.
