Hi,

Attached is version 0.1 of the AASTeX layout. It's not yet ready for CVS,
but it is reasonably usable.

>From the layout file:

Most everything in sections 2.1-2.11 of AASTeX guide works. References
work with some ERT. Regular tables (2.14) okay, deluxetable will never be
supported. Figures (2.13) not even attempted yet. Misc (2.15) partially
supported, but much will remain ERT. Style options (section 3) can be
typed into Extra Document options. Much cleaning of this file needs to be
done.
-------------

I solved my previous question 1 (\and, \acknowledgements) by setting the
"Keep empty paragraph" option to 1. This produces \and{} and
\acknowledgements{} in the LaTeX file, but this should be acceptable
behaviour. Questions 2 and 3 are still open, and since JMarc tossed his
hands up in bewilderment, they might have to remain as ERT.

Tom Murphy reported that v0.0 produced a \maketitle command in the LaTeX
file, which it definitely should NOT. It does not do this for me. Could
someone else try it (even if you are not an astronomer) and let me know if
it is produced for you? Simply load the sample.lyx file which is included
in the tarball, export the file as LaTeX, and send it to me and tell me
what your configuration looks like. There is already a sample.tex in the
tarball - this is what I get when I export it. Make sure you overwrite it
(or rename it) before you send it.

To do:
1) Figure support
2) Layout file cleanup
3) Create a template
4) Write docs for Extended.lyx
5) Commit it
6) Submit a paper to ApJ or AJ using nothing but LyX :-)
