Hi all,
I just sent JMarc my patch for AASTeX support, so you are now going to
have a horde of American astronomers clogging the ftp sites. :-)
While I was preparing this I found a few things I thought I'd throw at
you. First the trivial:
Three files in lyx-1.0.3/po are not removed properly after a
"make distclean": Makefile, Makefile.in, POTFILES.
Now the not so trivial:
1) With all the work you guys are doing trying to make \url work, it turns
out that it clobbers any native \url definitions in the class file. AASTeX
has its own definition of URL, but I can't use the URL inset because LyX
then tries to load the url.sty file. Perhaps there should be a ProvidesURL
layout definition similar to ProvidesAmsmath?
2) It would be _really_ nice to have some way of supporting "user"
commands; e.g. a table would pop up (similar to the math symbols table)
with "micron" on it - clicking on it would insert $\mu$m into the LateX
file and mathmode{\mu}m on the screen. That would make the large number of
short definitions contained in AASTeX (like abbreviations for all the
journal names, physical symbols, etc.) much more palatable.
3) It would be immensely useful to come up with a way of supporting
changeable optional arguments in the layout files.
4) Any chance of supporting \citet and \citep in the relatively near
future? These are needed to take advantage of natbib support. One idea for
implementation is to simply add exclusive radio buttons to the Citation
popup: below the two text boxes simply click on \cite, \citet, or \citep
or alternatively, Standard, Name (Year), (Name Year). You'll make at least
this astronomer very happy ...
Mike
