Hi everyone,
a thought about the buffer-export function: when invoked from a client,
through the LyXServer, the client has no way of knowing where the exported
file is on the system. I thought about modifying such behaviour so that on
success buffer-export returns the file path. I looked into
LyXFunc::Dispatch and it seems that this would require modifying all
functions that do an export of some kind, ascii, latex and so on.

I would like to know whether my impression is correct and in that case
whether the benefits are worth the effort in your opinion.

The benefits would be a much better client support since operations could
be requested on the current buffer. E.g. binding a key sequence for
counting words in the buffer and reporting the output in the minibuffer,
or batch-exporting the buffer without the need of invoking a shell to
launch "lyxexport --whatever".

Thanks for your attention,
Stefano
