Thanks for the tip but the picinpar package is a little dodgey (it doesn't use
the global caption formats). I got around this by using the just as
dodgey wraptable package with a sprinkling of ERT.
What I was refering to in the original message was under Layout > Paragraph >
ExtraOpts you can set a flag for "floatflt" but this seems to only work for
figures.
