I seem to remember that from Bennett yes. Considering that each click
results in two full screen paintings and that Qt4 on Mac is so sloowww,
this is no surprise.
Abdel, besides the "do it right" aspect of the patch, do you feel
it has a big real-life impact? One such impact could be in speed in
selection with mouse, for example.

I think that, if it is a big gain,

it should go in 1.5.0, but ongoing
cleanup is less urgent. OTOH, if you continue working on that without
committing, the patch would become too large to be evaluated.
IMO, optimizing LyX is a must for 1.5.0. Current drawing strategy is
really, *really*, complicated. So cleanups are necessary in order to
optimize it.
