I had weird problems with any kind of operation involving large quantities of files (not data!) on WinXP/NTFS on fast disks.

TortoiseSVN just happens to trigger these events fairly often as an SVN working copy has lots of small files in the .svn folder.

That reminds of another problem I had... Windows network traffic was very slow, and while copying large amounts of files to a network share I finally got a very "illuminating" error. I think it said something like "path is to long".

In the end it turned out to be a problematic switch on...
