i remember jose has written somewhere that yes. fileformat cant be changed only after 1.5.0 is out to maintain 1.5.x series stable. > Any comments or suggestions for a better solution? just two ideas, dont know whether usable: 1. to have some check box in preferences like 'put real names in .lyxfile' and in other cases just let there be user1, user2 etc. 2. or to put in .lyx file flag \ctneverused which will be set if and only if nobody switch CT in this document ever. in such a case, there will be no authors ; in other cases it will have the same behaviour as now. hope it helps pavel
