Sure, the standalone notifyCursorLeaves calls Inset::notifyCursorLeaves of all insets in the cursor stack; so this catches the parent MathHullInset.
I was about to write such a function, only that I found it already
implemented ;-)

Did that for the cursor up/down logic in the last patch some days ago. I also wanted to use that in the other places, don't know why I didn't ... maybe wasn't brave enough :)

Haven't tested it, but for me it looks safe and the right thing to do.
