I too find mathed very useable. But it edits math, not text.
I think text have different needs than math.
I agree. Maybe one difference is that when writing text, I'm ok with not
getting it perfect to begin with. I know I'll rephrase it a few times to
make concepts clearer, as well as restructure it.
Math on the other hand I generally do in structured and clear way to begin
with. I simply think differently.
Having several cursor positions in front of a word will be both
confusing and cumbersome to move through.
I think that's the main point. When editing text, the distractions should
be minimzed. This is one of my favourite advantages with LyX - you can
write without being distracted or having to use the mouse all the time.
