Hi all!
When I used lyx 1.5 first time and wanted to use the great tool of the
outline dialog, I had a hard time to find out, how to make it appear. In
the beginning, I only obtained it via clicking on the table of contents
at the beginning of the document, which is of course not very
convenient, when you are in the middle of the document. I simply could
not find it in the menus (or is it somewhere?).
Document -> Outline.
I personally wanted to put it in View->Outline or Tools->Outline but
eventually my proposal got rejected.
Finally I figured out,
that it can be activated with some icon in the main-toolbar, but usually
I have all toolbars deactivated. By now, I also know the name of the
corresponding LyX-function "dialog-toggle toc" (In lyx 1.5.2, it was
hard for me to find that out, because the name of the function was
displayed in the status line only extremely shortly, or not at all, but
that seems to be fixed in 1.6.0svn). So in principle, it is fine now for
me, as I could define a key-binding (if I wasn't that lazy...). But I
guess that this might affect several users, and I would suggest, that
every command which is accessible via the main- and extra- toolbar, is
also accessible via the menus.
I think that is mostly the case already. But you are of course welcome
to do some reorganisation/suggestion to improve things there. This is
the kind of job that do not requires any C++ coding, just good taste.
Everything is encoded in the definition files found in "trunk/lib/ui/".
