I think Screencasts are very good to give people a taste without the
need to install LyX and maybe a multi-hundred MB tex installation. I did
some small screencasts some time ago, e.g.
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=68Gys4rp3u4, though not very
professionally. Especially the resolution on YouTube is not really good
for those things.
Did you link to these screencasts from somewhere (wiki or web site)?
