You do not need to open the master document. Just open the child document,
and you automatically have access to the master buffer. This means you have
access to the citation keys of the master without having to add a bibtex
inset in a note inset, to the labels, etc. Furthermore, you can directly
compile the master via master-buffer-view.

In 1.5, this was only possible after you have opened the child _from_ the
master.
