The purpose is that the output looks on both LyX versions the same. That is the most important point and this works correctly for LyX 1.6 -> 1.5 and vice versa.
When people get a LyX file they wouldn't turn on hyperref when they see that the output is already what they want. Moreover when I sent a colleague a file and get it back and wonder about the then moved hyperref info, I either file a bug report why this happens, or more probably wonder why the output is still the same as it should be, even without hyperref options in the document properties.
We cannot do it correctly, but at least that it looks the same in the output and this is a must have. > i commited the current version and will review lyx2lyx part you commit later. I've put it in. I tested that the conversion works in both corrections without dataloss. regards Uwe
