Part of the final formatting is done by the LaTex engine. For example how
are you going to translate \maketitle, the positioning of title, author,
etc... is different in package A than in package B.
The object isn't to mimic the LaTeX output, but to provide reasonable
HTML output. Or, as JMarc more or less suggested, think of it as: We
want the HTML to look as much like the document looks in LyX itself as
possible. Adjusting, of course, for the obvious bits. So title and such
will be output in the order they appear in the LyX document.
To translate \date, you will need to have a routine saying If language =
German than translate this way, if French, this other way, if English....
Globally you will have to recreate in your ashtml() routines part of the
LaTeX package macros and Babel.
I haven't thought about date. But we do a lot of translation already.
It is a big endeavour, not to speak the bibliographical formating engine.
The bibliography stuff is actually simple. Again, not to get exactly the
same output, but to get reasonable output. Check out the citation dialog
in trunk.
