Dear Vincent, thank you for your examination and your suggestion. I will check the fonts available. In the meantime, I ran into troubles as the bbding.sty package is missing, too. So once I added some special characters from the dingbat character set to my document, I cannot produce any output any more. So I will try to use metafont to get the missing fonts.
