I'm running lyx-1.1.5fix2. I'm enjoying the new features. Unfortunately, I
can't compile my thesis anymore. I get the following error:

Package babel error: you have used an old interface to call babel
    \bblstyerror

You could proceed but don't complain if you run into errors.

How do I fix this?

It's a bummer that LaTeX only has errors, not warnings, because in a perfect
world, LyX would see that this is a warning, not an error, and just move on.

---------------------

I'm not sure whether this problem cropped up because I started using
LyX1.1.5fix2, or because I started using RedHat6.2, which may have a new
version of LaTeX.

The really bad news is, I'm getting worried about whether I'll be able to
finish writing the thesis without a lot of work. You see, the style files
for University of Pennsylvania theses are .sty, not .cls. So my thesis is
being LaTeXed in 209 compatibility mode. (I suspect that's why I got the
above error about an old interface.) What if something breaks?

Is there an easy way to change a .sty to a .cls? Right now, I'm using the
hack I copied from Marc Mengel where a .cls file just loads latex209 stuff
and then inclues the .sty file. But I'd love to be able to actually convert
to a .cls file and not use compatibility mode. In fact, the thesis files are
probably similar to a bunch of other thesis style files, with maybe slightly
different frontmatter and margins. And there must be latex2e thesis style
files out there, right?

So I guess what I'm trying to say is... Help!

ps so that people won't think I'm totally selfish, I'll mention that the new
tabular stuff is nice (although I couldn't compile & see how it looked. see
above). I noticed that I couldn't type stuff in math mode in a tabular,
but I think that bug's been mentioned. Also, when latexing, I got
"TexRow::increasePos: this should happen maximum one time for each run of
increasePos!" If that bug hasn't been mentioned and/or fixed, I can send you
the tabular where it's happening.
