| I used to have the "^" key on my keyboard configured as a dead key,
| i.e. Have to press ^ and space to get the "^" character. This is useful
| for
| typing stuff like . Several other keys are configured dead too,
| for easy typing of other accents/umlauts, like ""
|
| This works well in all the X11 programs I use, and reasonably well
| on the linux console too. But lyx dies with a SIGSEGV whenever I
| use this feature. Not when I type the dead key itself, but when I
| type the character completing the sequence. (Such as the a when
| creating a
| , or the space when creating a "^") This affects 1.1.4fix3 and
| 1.1.5fix2

I really need some more information: what version of XForms,
what output do you get if you run LyX with "-dbg key"

A backtrace form a debugger would also be very nice.

| I have reconfigured my keyboard so the "^" isn't dead, so I can type
| math
| exponents again. But there is no way I can reserve keys for and so
| on - there isn't so many keys, and I use these in applications
| other than lyx too.

There is also the option of setting up a compose key.

| Is this a known problem with a fix? Or should I try to do
| something myself?
| I don't know how hard it is to fix, but a lyx that don't die
| from a unexpected key would be nice. Having the key perform
| correctly would be even better of course.

Sure, even if we can't make it work we should absolutely not crash.
