For the first step, we would need project ideas and mentors who could
supervise. I would put forward the following:
1.) Improved XHTML export and ePub support. (See other email for a more
thorough discussion.)
2.) ODF/DOC/DOCX import library (perhaps developed jointly with KOffice)
3.) UI Improvements and non-linear writing enhancements. My outliner, section
folding, etc (which are mostly done, yay!), would fall under this. As would an
improved full-screen UI, perhaps something along the lines of what Scrivener
does? (Just some thoughts.)
There are probably dozens of other improvements that could be packaged into
projects. Also, I could offer mentoring support for the third project. We might
partner with KDE for the second?
Does anyone have any other thoughts?
I myself have the following ideas:
-Layout editor (already mentioned),
-LyX presentation mode, in this mode one can create presentations more
easily and more tools are available for this. I especially like this,
because often one gives a presentation about stuff which has already
been written in an article or report in LyX. In those cases one wants to
reuse the same images/floats/formulas and so forth.
