the class and arranging to print the relevant values when we compile it.

I'd be happy to include such a document, actually, if you or someone else wanted to create it. I'd suggest using the layouts package, which of course the user would need to have installed. It'd be a simple document---perhaps a template---that one could load, and then compile. You'd have to set the document class to what you wanted, but then it would display the page layout, etc, for that class.
