KOMA Script is an excellent example: It has an option version=<version> exactly to fit the criterium we put forward: backwards compatibility. In contrast to the moderncv author (apparently), Markus Kohm has a very good understanding of how important it is to not break your user's documents by new class versions. Jürgen
