Hello,

A recent post on lyx-fr

http://thread.gmane.org/gmane.editors.lyx.french/1769

draw my attention about a bounding box consistency problem for the exemple.png file attached to this post, which may happen with other png files unless this one is very particular.

This image is recognised by LyX as being 400x900
(Graphics>Clipping>Get from file).

However clipping to {90,30,370,815} to remove left legend and title fails completely and moves the figure around the page whatever the LaTeX engine chosen, in spite of the fact that clipping appears correctly in the LyX window.

Converting externally the file to eps with IM convert gives a BB of
0 0 203 456. Clipping the original png figure to homothetic values
{46,15,188,413} gives a wrong clipping on screen, but a correct one on the
output.

Moreover, applying the ebb utility to exemple.png gives a BB of
0 0 288 648
but this is harmless as LyX obviously does not use this utility.

Applying

$ identify -verbose exemple.png | head
Image: exemple.png
  Format: PNG (Portable Network Graphics)
  Class: DirectClass
  Geometry: 400x900+0+0
  Resolution: 55.9x55.9
  Print size: 7.15564x16.1002
  Units: PixelsPerCentimeter

does not help much, I don't see data explaining the difference between the difference in pixel size in png and eps.

Does this deserve an entry in bugzilla ? A warning in the docs ?
