At the bottom is the requested output. I inserted the letter
\Gamma into an inline math mode insert. For whatever it is
worth I am running RedHat 7.0 with all updates. On my other
machine, which is RedHat 6.0, LyX seems to work fine.
While the Greek letter \Gamma does not show up on the
display, it does appear in the postscript output.
