insert reference feature request

If you are considering a 1.1.6fix2 I would like to ask for a command line 
input /as it was available until lyx-1.1.5) in insert reference.  It takes 
forever to scroll through a 2500 entry list 100 times for a paper.

P.S.:  Can anyone tell be how to post follow-ups?
My previous 'compilation error' was easily solved by installing xdevel. SuSE 
has a package (xshared?) with the X libs which satisfies configure but 
compilation won't work.
