The general view seems to be that 'master' on its own is not
problematic, so I don't propose to change 'master document', etc. But,
as I say in the commit message below, 'child' seemed the best way to go
here and that makes 'parent' natural. In any event, there didn't seem to
be an obvious replacement for 'slave' that didn't also make 'master'
seem out of place.
Sure. I thought about that some time ago, and time went by.
