Pavel and Paul, Thanks very much for your suggestions. As it turned out, pdfstartview did the trick. In particular, adding the following line to the LaTeX Preamble:
\hypersetup{pdfstartview={XYZ null null 1.00}}
gives my compiled pdf files at the percent magnification I set in Adobe
Acrobat, namely 125%.
One huge annoyance just went away, and I really appreciate the help.
