One thing I have always been too lazy to do concerning colors is
adding
the possibility to refer to another color. For example, having a
default of
\setcolor mathbg @background
would give math the same background as the document.
Even better would be
\setcolor mathbg @inherit
to make math insets transparent.
You mean the lay counterpart of \colorlet
I thought about \set_color in LyXRC.
The difficult part would be the UI of course.
Does this need much UI?
In Preference|Color, probably.
