I can reproduce on 2.4.4.

Time to file bug in trac I guess.
This is a consequence of 999fb37e, which skips updateMacros when the
buffer has not been changed. Now I have to find out why the buffer Id is
not changed correctly.
It is fixed in master now, by adding a new case where updateMacro should
unconditionally be run.
Riki, this is candidate for 2.5.x.
