Well, on the one hand, this is the default maxima behavior, not a LyX bug. On
the other hand, it might also slightly par the LyX user experience, so maybe a
sentence could be added to the documentation (assuming the casual user reads
it!).
Perhaps in Math.lyx section 23.1. Would you like me to do it? I would be happy
to, if you tell me what to do.
