It is possible that I have commented out too much 'tex-mode' stuff,
and that the implementation in mathed really is ortogonal with the
regular tex-mode.

_if_ mathed tex-mode uses the lyxfont::latex then it must go at once.
It mathed tex-mode is _not_ using it, it can be allowed back in.

Can you snoop around and see what the state is?
