I think I've gotten myself confused here. I think this *was* the case
with 1.1.6fix2, but isn't with 1.1.6fix3.
In 1.1.6fix2 the files I mentioned were not in the tar.gz, but were
generated. They now do seem to be in the tar.gz, so it makes sense
that distclean doesn't delete them.
