These problems have to be fixed anyway, thus that is no reason to add
the old hack again.

But I am not fully convinced that minipages provide a proper solution for
indenting a paragraph by, e.g., 5cm. You would have to set the width of
the minipage to \textwidth-5cm and place a \hfill in front of the
minipage. I wonder if this is acceptable to the average user.

Nevertheless, if you think that the discussion has been closed with a
general consensus some time ago, I will not try to reawaken it.
