Uh, I just mentioned scartcl and scrlettr as _examples_ with a different design size from the 10pt from standard LaTeX classes. IIRC, most of the Koma classes have 11pt as default (except for the letter classes in it which have 12pt). If you don't know this information from somewhere else (would LyX adjust its display sizes to those of the document?
