It complicates the prefs panels. Quick test - where can you find it ?
I bet you guessed "Look and feel". Nope. It won't fit there because we
have too many prefs. It's rather well hidden in Inputs->something or
other.

Let me make things clear - I'm not saying this is a crucial UI problem
which is ruining LyX. Nonetheless, if it is not really needed, we should
remove it. Remember the first rule in design is to say "NO !". This also
applies to UI design.

I reckon we can seriously simplify a LOT of the prefs. I'm sure I'll
attract flamage for a lot of it, and I have been convinced to keep a
couple of things already (i.e. I am not immune to reason).

Look at Rob's recent graphics changes - this has improved the UI a
significant amount. And it was mostly done by removing stuff.
