One of the problem of your implementation in linux is that tellp uses a long long int representation. I have applied instead the uniqueID function rescued from the graphics. What is missing? Regarding the escape of ids, I am still trying to find a simple way to propagate the correct sequence of escaped characters, probably the easiest will be putting it on the output parameters.
