Ok, Asger. I applied the bits that were obviously the right thing to do.
Here is your patch back again. I believe that this is all you'll need to
make LyX compile for you --- down to 1136 lines. I can confirm that this
patch compiles on linux.

(There were a few pieces of redundancy in the stuff you posted because you
started from my original patch and I've been slowly merging things into
the repository.)

Indeed. chdir.C, getcwd.C and tempname.C all look interesting. I haven't
applied them because I haven't been onto the Windows box to try 'em out.
