Yes, that would be a solution.
 

Sigh... I really don't understand why simple things can get that 
complicated. Sometimes it seems easier to introduce a new feature than 
to fix a few spaces.

Nevertheless, I am satisfied with Jean Marc's solution. I am happy with 
the fact that the underscores disappear from the po files. So far, most 
translators have kept the underscores - I guess they were afraid of 
using spaces.
