If it starts phonetically with a vowel, it needs an 'n', 'Unix' (aka
[ju:niks] starts with the semi-vowel (is that the proper English word?)
[j], so no 'n' needed.

[Another instance of a semi-vowel is btw the 'v' in 'vowel']
