Hi,
I just wanted to write an BIG BIG thanks to Angus.
So I opened the new Lyx, selected File -> New
and started to type "Sehr geehrter Herr Sisyphus". To
check the font I selected "View (pdflatex)". Everything
was fine. It occurred to me, however, that I wrote in German.
So I changed the Language to German (Layout->
Document->Language) and compiled the PDF again.
Lyx forwarded a protest from Latex: "Package
Babel Error. You haven't loaded the option
english yet. \select(at)language{english}"
I gave up and saved the file, then changed my mind
and reloaded it again. I did the pdflatex. The error was gone!
I assume that this is a feature of Latex rather than a bug in
Lyx (it is found in Ruurd's version as well), but beginners may
be annoyed. Maybe a warning on the Document setting
-> Language window may be in place.
The new release is really a great achievement. Thanks to
Ruurd for pitying the retrograde Windows-Cygwin techno-peasants
and starting this project, and to Angus and all you others
for the time and energy spent in bringing it to culmination.
Ekkehart
