In general I agree. The problem here was that the old TOC files had syntax errors, so surely something had to be done for 1.4.0. I posted a fix, but it was not liked, so I created the current solution. If you had spoken earlier I would not have done that. So, even if you don't have time to do real work on LyX, please tell early when you don't like (or like) a patch. Georg
